AI settings

Shared OpenRouter mode, bring-your-own-key mode and custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints.

Modes

ModeWho paysSetup
Global (shared)OperatorSet OPENROUTER_API_KEY and OPENROUTER_MODEL
LocalBuyerBuyer picks a provider, model, key and token limit in the setup dialog

Shared mode is offered only when both variables are set. Set MARKETPLACE_DISABLE_LOCAL_AI=true to hide Local and block /api/ai-models.

Providers

  • OpenRouter
  • Custom: any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. It uses the same outbound rules as stores. Limit origins with MARKETPLACE_CUSTOM_AI_ORIGINS.

Local keys stay in the buyer's browser and travel with each /api/completion request.

What the model sees

Only discovery tools: getAvailableStores, getAvailableCountries, getAvailableRegions, discoverProducts, discoverRestaurantMenus, getProduct. Results are reduced to safe summaries. HTML, metadata, cart IDs, proofs, tokens and addresses are kept out. Replayed chat history is text only.

Routing

The route forces getAvailableStores on the first step. If the text names retail or restaurant words it forces the matching discovery tool next. It stops when a tool returns a UI card, and after 10 steps.

Errors

Choose exactly one AI configuration mode, API key is required, Model is required, Unsupported AI provider, Custom AI endpoint is invalid, Local AI configuration is disabled for this deployment, Invalid max token budget, Shared AI token budget is misconfigured.
