Design systems
Group products under a design system and ship named tokens with them.
/dashboard/platform/design-systems manages DesignSystem and DesignToken records.
Design system fields
Name, Slug, Namespace (both unique), Homepage, Status (draft, active, archived), Default active system (isDefault), and Description. Create with createUIKitDesignSystem, edit with updateUIKitDesignSystem. Products attach through their Design system field.
Tokens
Each token has a stable lowercase code, a design system, a Name, a Type (color, typography, spacing, radius, shadow, motion, breakpoint, other), a Mode (base, light, dark), a Value, and a Description. Create with createUIKitDesignToken, edit with updateUIKitDesignToken.
Tokens marked isPublic are snapshotted into a release when it is submitted for review (at most 100). Validation checks that the exact snapshot submitted is the one used. Changing public tokens after submission forces the reviewer to choose Request changes and revalidate.
Notes
- Token codes must be lowercase and bounded:
Design token code must be a lowercase, bounded stable identity. - Onboarding creates a "Studio Design System" with starter tokens and does not overwrite tokens you changed.
