Point of sale
Counter cash sales of OTC products with a receipt and inventory movement.
/dashboard/platform/pos is for walk-in over-the-counter sales at one location. Prescription items are dispensed from the prescription page instead.
Take a sale
Find products
Search by title, SKU, or category, filter by stock (all, available, unavailable), and sort by title, price, or stock. Only OTC products with POS availability and stock at the location are sellable (pharmacyPosCatalog).
Build the basket
Add quantities. The screen shows subtotal, tax at the organization's cash tax rate, and total. Choose a customer (pharmacyPosCustomers) or leave it as walk-in.
Enter cash received
The amount must be at least the total. The screen shows change due.
Attest and submit
Keep the reason (default "Walk-in cash sale") and confirm. submitPharmacyPosCashOrder creates the order, a captured cash Payment, and sale movements allocated from eligible lots, earliest expiration first. The receipt shows lines, subtotal, tax, total, cash received, and change due.
Safe retries
Each sale has an idempotency key. If the connection drops, the screen recovers the committed receipt with pharmacyPosCashReceipt, so the same sale is not recorded twice.
Requirements
- A recorded cash and sales-tax policy (
recordPharmacyCashPolicy, on Payments). - Duplicate product lines must be combined before submission.
- Refunds are made from the order page.
